"SEEING & UNDERSTANDING LIGHT": A Workshop Exploring the Art of lighting in painting

CARA Lighting and TRE 100 successfully hosted the “Seeing & Understanding Light” workshop on August 17, 2024, at Annam Gallery. The event was attended by painters, curators, collectors, and art enthusiasts. The workshop offered fresh perspectives on the role of lighting in painting.

Through insightful discussions and hands-on experiments, participants not only “saw” but also deeply understood the emotional depth that light brings to each artwork. M lacquer, oil, silk paintings, and even sculptures were "adorned" with light, clearly demonstrating how light can alter a viewer's perception of a piece.

Guests also witnessed firsthand the power of light in highlighting the materiality of each artwork, from the delicacy of silk to the robust beauty of sculpture. Common challenges in exhibition lighting were addressed in a creative and inspiring manner.

The workshop not only provided valuable information about lighting in painting but also empowered painters and curators to use light to elevate the artistic value of their work. The lively questions and discussions created an enthusiastic artistic atmosphere.

We thank all guests for joining CARA Lighting on a meaningful journey of exploring the art of lighting. Stay tuned for more informative lighting activities from CARA Lighting.
